This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• The Senior Technical Accountant will report to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, playing a key role in supporting accounting and financial reporting for intricate and non-routine transactions.
• This position is responsible for leading technical accounting research, formulating well-supported accounting positions, and guaranteeing the consistent application of U.S. GAAP throughout the organization.
• The role involves cross-functional collaboration to evaluate accounting implications, influence business decisions, and uphold strong accounting policies and internal controls within a dynamic public company setting.
• Engage in research, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP to complex and non-standard transactions.
• Develop, document, and substantiate accounting conclusions with clear technical backing.
• Execute and manage accounting for areas such as Purchase accounting, Intangible assets and amortization, Investments, Hedging activities, Goodwill, and other relevant technical accounting matters.
• Prepare analyses, documentation, and journal entries as required.
• Create, update, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure the consistent application of GAAP.
• Advocate for standardization and scalability across accounting processes.
• Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes. Lead impact assessments and coordinate implementation efforts with relevant stakeholders.
• Draft precise and comprehensive technical accounting memoranda and supporting documentation for audit and internal purposes, ensuring compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
• Work collaboratively with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Manufacturing Operations, and auditors to proactively identify and resolve accounting issues, providing insights on accounting implications of business initiatives and transactions.
• Assist in the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses, ensuring accuracy and completeness within the ERP system.
• Support adherence to internal controls and accounting policies (SOX environment), identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process enhancements.
• Clearly communicate complex accounting matters to both finance and non-finance stakeholders, including senior leadership. Maintain strong relationships with auditors and business partners.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA certification.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or technical accounting.
• Experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proven ability to research, interpret, and document complex accounting issues.
• Experience in a public company environment or in supporting SEC reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with complex transactions (e.g., M&A, revenue recognition, derivatives).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Experience in a SOX-compliant environment.
