This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage the comprehensive preparation, evaluation, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual domestic sales & use tax and international VAT/GST returns, as well as business licenses and property tax filings.
• Act as the internal liaison for tax software setups; proactively maintain and enhance indirect tax calculation and reporting systems to ensure smooth, automated workflows within the organization.
• Keep track of and assess domestic and international tax regulations concerning digital goods, SaaS, and economic nexus to ensure proactive compliance as HighLevel grows.
• Assist the team during indirect tax audits by efficiently overseeing IDRs and collaborating with leadership to support and defend established tax positions.
• Prepare and review monthly tax accruals and conduct balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts in NetSuite.
• Supervise the collection, validation, and upkeep of customer tax exemption certificates.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Billing, and Legal teams to assess the taxability of new product launches, software features, and bundled offerings.
• Minimum of 5 years of advancing experience in indirect tax (Sales & Use, VAT, GST), ideally with a combination of public accounting and corporate experience.
• Strong understanding of software-as-a-service (SaaS) taxability regulations, digital products, and sourcing rules.
• Experience in managing tax calculations and reporting through tax software systems and NetSuite ERP; familiarity with Stripe Tax is advantageous.
• Proficient in advanced Excel functions (pivots, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation) with the capability to handle large, high-volume transactional datasets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation or Master of Taxation degree is highly desirable.
• Ability to quickly adapt when priorities shift, viewing rapid organizational growth as an exciting opportunity rather than an obstacle.
• Demonstrated history of analyzing data to not only uncover tax issues but also proactively suggest and implement automated solutions.
• Capable of translating complex tax regulations into straightforward language for non-financial stakeholders, along with strong documentation skills for future reference and audit support.
