This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Senior Systems Integrator is responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning intricate electrical control systems, concentrating on the integration of PLC and HMI systems to ensure effective operation and communication.
• This role involves maintaining project timelines and guaranteeing the quality of project outcomes.
• Mentoring and collaborating with engineering teams is crucial to ensure system compatibility and improve substation efficiency.
• The position includes reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other project documents, offering learning opportunities for junior team members.
• Responsibilities also entail reviewing, designing, and integrating PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems for renewable energy automation applications while providing educational support to junior team members.
• Conducting and reviewing the integration of complex substation systems and devices, including protective relays, RTACs (Real-Time Automation Controllers), and communication networks is key.
• Leading testing activities and mentoring junior team members to troubleshoot electrical control systems is essential for ensuring proper functionality and performance.
• The role requires overseeing and executing on-site field commissioning tasks, such as system installation, device power-up, and network troubleshooting.
• Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders is vital for achieving project success.
• Assisting team members in acquiring current knowledge and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations, such as NERC CIP, is important.
• Supporting others in learning and understanding new technologies and programming techniques is an integral part of the position.
• Leading complex technical and multidisciplinary projects is also a significant responsibility.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced experience in applying electrical systems, control systems, and automation concepts.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI design.
• Competence in multiple programming languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, or Structured Text).
• Advanced experience in designing and/or troubleshooting fiber optic networks.
• Expertise in interpreting electrical schematics, including single-line diagrams and P&C drawings.
• Extensive experience with HMI design, development, and commissioning.
• Demonstrated application of complex automation, integration, and system protection principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Proven capacity to mentor others in a technical environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Extensive experience with multiple PLC platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric, SEL RTAC, Allen Bradley).
• Advanced proficiency in Inductive Automation's Ignition platform.
• In-depth understanding of common industrial communication protocols, including ModbusTCP and/or DNP3.
• Advanced knowledge of 3-phase power generation control principles.
• Expertise in implementing Automatic Voltage Regulation Schemes, including setpoint, power factor, and voltage control.
• Advanced ability to read, interpret, and implement Power Purchase Agreements and LGIAs, translating them into control schemes.
• Knowledge of voltage regulation concepts and ISO-specific requirements.
• Willingness to travel 25-35% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license and capability to meet company driving standards.
