This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Design, construct, and maintain CT hosting platforms, ensuring that the compute, virtualisation, storage, and operating system layers are secure, reliable, and high-performing.
• Engineer, configure, and support enterprise Linux server environments, which includes patching, hardening, configuration management, and Hypercare activities.
• Administer enterprise virtualisation platforms, encompassing hypervisor, cluster, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
• Develop and sustain platform storage solutions that fulfill performance, resilience, capacity, and data protection requirements.
• Execute technical project work through CT change management processes, complete with appropriate risk assessments and rollback plans.
• Provide technical expertise and serve as an escalation point for complex platform issues and major incidents.
• Collaborate with Presales and Solution Architects to validate solution designs and offer technical guidance along with effort estimation support.
• Maintain expert knowledge of hosting platforms, vendor technologies, integrations, and product roadmaps.
• Mentor and assist engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, documentation, and technical guidance.
• Create reusable technical documentation, templates, runbooks, and standard deployment patterns to enhance team capability.
• Identify technical skill gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule, adhere to quality standards, and are successfully transitioned to operational support teams.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role within enterprise or managed services environments.
• Strong expertise in Linux administration and engineering across enterprise distributions such as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or Ubuntu.
• Practical experience with enterprise virtualisation platforms, especially VMware vSphere.
• Familiarity with enterprise compute, storage, networking, and backup technologies.
• Understanding of networking concepts that support containerised and virtualised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
• Experience with scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible (highly regarded).
• Experience with Kubernetes-based virtualisation platforms such as SUSE Harvester, Rancher, or KubeVirt (highly regarded).
• Experience managing Kubernetes and containerised workloads in production (highly regarded).
• Experience with software-defined storage technologies such as Longhorn or Portworx (highly regarded).
• Relevant Linux, Kubernetes, or virtualisation certifications, such as those from SUSE, Linux Foundation, or VMware (highly regarded).
