This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Spearhead essential safety initiatives while providing guidance to engineering teams and clients.
• Carry out civil safety evaluations in accordance with ARP4761 or military safety assessments as per MIL-STD-882E.
• Create System Safety Program Plans, Functional Hazard Assessments, Fault Tree Analyses, and Safety Assessment Reports.
• Work in conjunction with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to establish safety-critical requirements.
• Evaluate design documentation for safety-critical systems and offer expert analysis and insights.
• Guide junior engineers and promote ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to formulate plans, address challenges, and achieve results.
• Provide support for avionics programs primarily located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
• Expect to travel around 5% of the time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related area with at least 3 years of experience.
• Proven experience in safety-critical systems.
• Familiarity with ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E safety standards.
• Knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, and DO-297 is preferred.
• Experience with CAFTA or similar safety analysis tools is preferred.
• Proficiency in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is preferred.
• A solid foundation in reliability engineering principles, statistics, and mathematical modeling is preferred.
• Technical expertise in avionics safety is essential.
• Must meet U.S. Person requirements.
• Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the time.
