Senior Systems Engineer, Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of our networking and server hardware, including topology and connectivity within our physical data centers and cloud environments.

• Architect and develop network telemetry, monitoring, and observability solutions.

• Create and sustain an automated change management pipeline to implement network configuration updates and provision hardware.

• Ensure the reliable operation of critical services by troubleshooting and resolving operational issues as an on-call engineer, engaging in post-mortem analyses, and applying enhancements to avert future problems.

• Participate in and collaborate on significant decisions regarding the development of our infrastructure, including our hybrid cloud architecture.

• Serve as the primary liaison with third parties, vendors, and internet service providers, as well as travel to our data centers and offices in the Bay Area and New Jersey for onsite networking initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in routing and switching within data center environments.

• Proven experience with Linux operating systems.

• Experience in automating production data center settings, covering hardware provisioning, network device configuration, and capacity planning.

• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as BGP, MLAG, VLANs, and DNS.

• Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Juniper switches.

• Experience in VPN technologies, including OpenVPN, IPSec, and TLS.

• Knowledge of AWS networking technologies such as Direct Connect, NACLs, Security Groups, and VPC.

• Proficiency in automation tools like Chef, Ansible, and Terraform.

• Competence in at least one programming language, such as Ruby, Go, or Python, as well as configuration management tools like Git.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• A BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
