Senior Systems Engineer – IT Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, install, operate, update, and troubleshoot intricate IT infrastructure components.

• Oversee terminal server environments, virtual server infrastructures, backup and recovery systems, Linux and Windows server environments, patch and lifecycle management, database systems, secure file transfer environments, monitoring solutions, and both standardized and customized application/software platforms.

• Independently handle incidents, problems, and escalations through advanced support levels.

• Assist in the consultation, planning, and technical design of IT projects.

• Coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables among external service providers, IT specialist groups, and operational business units.

• Collaborate with external service providers and internal IT specialist teams.

• Serve as the primary contact for last-level and highly complex technical issues.

• Design and implement automation solutions, including scripting.

• Conceptualize tasks suitable for routine and operational activities.

• Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation.

• Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled work outside of regular business hours for maintenance and technical changes.

• Assume ITSM roles such as Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, and System Coordinator.

• Ensure adherence to information security requirements and the careful handling of privileged access rights.

• Comply with confidentiality obligations, contractual and legal regulations, and ISMS policies.

• Report and actively contribute to the resolution of security incidents.

• Carry out additional assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

• A minimum of 5 years of verified, hands-on experience in systems engineering and server/system administration within complex enterprise IT environments.

• ITILv4 Foundation certification.

• Proficient in German language skills (at least B2/C1 level).

• Proficient in English language skills (at least B2/C1 level).

• Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies, including Proxmox.

• Comprehensive understanding of backup/restore products, including Veeam.

• A strong willingness to learn, high resilience, and adaptability in a dynamic IT environment.

• A structured, goal-oriented, and analytical working style with a strong sense of ownership.

• Exceptional organizational and coordination skills with the capacity to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.

• Excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mentality in an international setting.

• Ability to clearly explain complex technical topics.

• A high level of commitment, reliability, and a hands-on approach.
