Senior Systems Engineer – Federal/DOD

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead intricate enterprise pre-sales engagements from start to finish, encompassing discovery, solution design, architecture validation, competitive differentiation, and technical closure.

• Maintain ownership of the technical relationship throughout the sales cycle, serving as the primary liaison for engineering and architecture stakeholders on strategic accounts.

• Convert customer business goals, risk posture, and compliance needs into secure, scalable, and resilient technical architectures.

• Travel requirement: 50-75%

• Provide high-impact technical demonstrations, workshops, and executive-level presentations that link Veeam’s capabilities to business value and cyber risk mitigation.

• Present with confidence to C-level executives, CISOs, and senior IT leadership—adapting technical depth to fit audience sophistication without compromising substance.

• Craft and deliver persuasive narratives that position Veeam as the premier data resilience platform across competitive displacements and greenfield opportunities.

• Design, manage, and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs) that are closely aligned with customer success criteria, operational realities, and measurable exit conditions.

• Create and configure representative lab environments—including virtualized infrastructure, backup repositories, cloud integration, and application protection—to showcase real-world capabilities under customer-representative conditions.

• Document POC findings, architecture decisions, and business outcomes in an executive-ready format to expedite technical closure.

• Collaborate closely with account executives, channel partners, product management, and engineering to impact solution architecture, roadmap direction, and customer results.

• Act as a field feedback loop—gathering competitive intelligence, customer requirements, and technical objections, and channeling them into product and go-to-market strategies.

• Mentor and assist less experienced SE team members, contributing to technical enablement and team capability enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or senior technical leadership within enterprise IT environments, specifically within DoD/DoD programs (mandatory).

• Proven success in leading complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles, including discovery, solution design, POC execution, and executive engagement through to closure.

• Hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing virtual environments—such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix AHV—at an enterprise scale. Candidates must have direct experience in setting up and operating virtualized infrastructure, not merely familiarity.

• Demonstrated experience with enterprise storage systems, including SAN, NAS, object storage, and backup appliances in production settings.

• Background working with or alongside data protection, cyber resilience, or enterprise infrastructure vendors.

• Security clearance is NOT required.
