This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Spearhead systems engineering initiatives throughout the entire system lifecycle, encompassing requirements development, integration, verification, validation, and transition to operations.
• Convert operational mission needs into precise technical requirements for software development.
• Facilitate system-of-systems integration among government, commercial, and partner entities.
• Conduct technical evaluations of emerging commercial technologies that support Space Domain Awareness missions.
• Engage in technical interchange meetings with Combatant Commands, U.S. Space Force, government clients, and industry collaborators.
• Execute engineering trade studies, risk evaluations, and technical feasibility assessments.
• Assist Agile software development teams by refining technical requirements and ensuring alignment of engineering efforts with mission objectives.
• Aid in integration testing, operational demonstrations, and user acceptance testing.
• Work closely with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and software teams to ensure successful deployment of mission capabilities.
• Formulate engineering recommendations for future capability advancements and technology roadmaps.
• Transform operational needs into system requirements and steer the engineering lifecycle of mission-critical capabilities for the Joint Commercial Operations Cell mission.
• Assess and incorporate commercial space capabilities, facilitating their transition into operational deployment.
• Over 10 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting aerospace, space systems, satellite operations, and defense initiatives.
• Knowledge of the aerospace domain, including familiarity with space operations, orbital mechanics, satellite systems, or Space Domain Awareness.
• Proven systems engineering experience in requirements analysis, systems integration, mission architecture, capability onboarding, CONOPS, and risk management within defense or aerospace settings.
• Experience in performing systems engineering throughout the complete Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).
• Familiarity with Agile software development environments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to operational users and senior leadership.
• Highly driven self-starter capable of executing independently in fast-paced operational contexts.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM field is required.
• Must maintain TS/SCI eligibility throughout employment.
• Preferred: experience supporting Joint Commercial Operations Cell or National Security Space missions.
• Preferred: knowledge of Space Domain Awareness, including space operations, orbital mechanics, satellite systems, and commercial remote sensing.
• Preferred: experience in integrating commercial capabilities into DoD operational environments.
• Preferred: familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and modern software delivery methods.
• Preferred: experience with Technical Risk Management.
