Senior Systems Designer – 12-month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Designers, Artists, and Programmers to design, prototype, and implement intricate gameplay systems and tools.

• Create team-facing documentation for downstream teams.

• Offer creative and technical feedback on the work of other Designers.

• Understand and execute creative direction in line with project objectives.

• Serve as a technical authority on key features and engage in data debugging.

• Oversee the technical contributions of others and ensure that content creation adheres to established best practices.

• Test new tools and features prior to their rollout to the team.

• Involve yourself in roadmap planning for designated systems.

• Mentor designers and advocate for sound design principles throughout the team.

• Design, tune, and maintain complex systems, including core gameplay, economic, and progression systems.

• Develop features and tools aimed at developers for Unreal.

• Connect Design with Art and Code disciplines.

• Contribute to delivering a dynamic and engaging player experience for a sci-fi first-person action game.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years in technical design or systems design.

• Basic understanding of game design processes.

• Proficient in investigating in-game issues.

• At least two titles shipped.

• Familiarity with Unreal 5 and Blueprints.

• Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a highly technical environment.

• Experience in other design areas such as level design, UX/UI, or encounter scripting is a plus.

• Experience playing modern first-person games, including Immersive Sim or Action-RPG genres is a plus.

• Knowledge or experience with 2D/3D software is a plus.

• Experience with various game engines is a plus.

• Familiarity with version control software is a plus.
