Senior Systems Architect, Pega

Posted May 19

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• The onshore Pega Senior System Architect (SSA) serves as the senior hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and optimizing Pega applications while mentoring the team and ensuring adherence to enterprise and government standards.

• Convert business requirements and blueprints into effective case types, data models, flows, and rules that comply with Pega guardrails and patterns.

• Manage intricate configurations beyond low-code, including data pages, integrations, queues, background processing, and security, ensuring they are both scalable and maintainable.

• Develop and enhance reusable components and frameworks to facilitate the utilization of a common design across multiple journeys or channels.

• Provide daily technical leadership to LSAs/SSAs/developers, reviewing designs and rules to maintain best practices, performance, and security standards.

• Diagnose and optimize the application, addressing performance bottlenecks, memory concerns, and inefficient designs.

• Uphold standards for branching, pipelines, code reviews, and guardrail compliance to ensure the implementation remains "upgrade-friendly."

• Design and implement integrations (REST/SOAP, queues, messaging, SSO) and guarantee alignment with enterprise integration patterns.

• Configure and verify access control (RBAC, ABAC) and security settings to meet government and organizational security frameworks.

• Collaborate with architects and infrastructure teams on non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as availability, response times, logging, disaster recovery, and monitoring, while supporting SLA and service credit commitments.

• Engage on-site/local with business, LSAs, security, and operations teams to expedite design decisions and support agile ceremonies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA / PCSSA), with Pega CSA as a prerequisite.

• Several years of practical Pega delivery experience (typically 3–5+ years).

• Strong understanding of Pega application architecture, including case lifecycle design, data modeling, integrations (REST/SOAP, queues), security and access control, and performance optimization.

• Demonstrated ability to design for reusability across various journeys or business areas and to troubleshoot complex issues using Pega’s diagnostic and monitoring tools.

• Experience in delivering Pega solutions within government or regulated environments, ensuring alignment with policies, security standards, accessibility (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA), and strict SLAs.

• Strong Agile/Scrum or Pega Express experience, functioning as a senior member of a multidisciplinary squad and collaborating with LSAs, business architects, testers, and DevOps teams.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills: capable of clearly articulating technical options, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating directly with client SMEs and technical leads on-site.

🏝️ Benefits

• Flexible work arrangements.
