Senior SysOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop automated and scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency for Cloud Operations engineers.

• Drive operational results that align with departmental SLA, cost, and automation effectiveness goals.

• Lead the coordination of customer environment implementations and migrations.

• Oversee and execute upgrades and maintenance for Platform and AI Services environments.

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex issues, facilitating root cause analysis and promoting long-term solutions.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to early and mid-career engineers.

• Create, assess, and revise operational workloads and standard operating procedures.

• Consistently provide high-quality solutions and implementations punctually.

• Monitor customer environments utilizing Azure, telemetry services, alerts, and logs to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance reliability, decrease manual efforts, and boost operational efficiency.

• Engage in on-call rotations, lead incident responses, and conduct post-incident reviews.

• Manage incident communications for complex events, drafting post-incident reviews and coordinating remediation plans across teams.

• Conduct Disaster Recovery testing and assist in compliance readiness efforts.

• Promote cross-functional collaboration with Platform, Cloud, and Customer Support Teams.

• Take part in testing and implementing pre-released products and services.

• Deliver outstanding customer service through effective communication, technical proficiency, and accountability for customer outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 7-10 years of experience in cloud operations, infrastructure engineering, or a similar role, with progressive responsibilities.

• Extensive experience in the analysis, implementation, and operation of enterprise IT systems and cloud systems.

• Profound understanding of cloud infrastructure, operating systems, networking, and security principles.

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure-As-Code concepts and tools (Terraform, CloudFormation templates, Bicep or ARM templates).

• Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot), with the capability to critically assess, validate, and operationalize generated outputs.

• Experience in infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Terraform, REST, etc., along with familiarity with supporting tools like ARM/Bicep templates, Kusto Query Language (KQL), and Azure Policy.

• Solid background in IT Compliance requirements, control-driven policy and process design, and the development of operational and security guidelines.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage complex technical projects.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to articulate technical concepts to varied audiences.

• Certifications: Microsoft Azure Az-104 or proven equivalent Azure administration expertise.

• Certifications: Microsoft Azure AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-400, AZ-500, DP-300, and SC-100.
