This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Conduct testing and maintenance of medium and high voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment in utility substation settings.
• Execute acceptance and maintenance testing procedures involving the operation of equipment in utility substations ranging from 15-500kV, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
• Carry out inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of medium and high voltage circuit breakers up to 500kV, including megger, ductor, power factor, gas analysis, and timing assessments.
• Conduct inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of power transformers, including TTR, power factor, Sweep Frequency Response Analysis, excitation, and winding resistance.
• Perform testing on current transformers, CCVTs, substation grounding systems, and station batteries.
• Utilize and accurately interpret readings from meters and testing equipment.
• Read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Troubleshoot controls for circuit breakers and transformers.
• Precisely document test results using Power DB.
• Comply with production schedules.
• Mentor and ensure accountability among team members for their assigned responsibilities.
• High School diploma or GED is required, along with a background in technical or vocational education related to electrical/power.
• Completion of a 2-year technical program or possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited institution.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in substations, power plants, and associated protection and control systems.
• Experience with protective relays is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Omicron and Doble software is preferred but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal abilities, excellent communication skills, business insight, and managerial capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and client interactions.
