Senior Structural Steel Detailer – Tekla Structures

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Assume responsibility for detailing assigned projects, which includes interpreting architectural and structural drawings and delivering final fabrication packages using Tekla Structures.

• Create high-quality 3D models and detailed shop drawings for fabricated steelwork, encompassing structural frames, stairs, balustrades, handrails, and custom metalwork.

• Lead coordination efforts with engineers, architects, project stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure that detailing complies with NZ/AU codes, site conditions, fabrication constraints, and project specifications.

• Review and conduct quality checks on drawings created by junior or intermediate team members, providing technical guidance, feedback, and mentorship as necessary.

• Manage and monitor RFIs, variations, drawing revisions, and design updates to ensure precision, version control, and timely delivery.

• Address complex architectural, structural, and fabrication coordination challenges using sound technical judgment and practical detailing experience.

• Participate in project coordination meetings remotely and assist in the interpretation or validation of site information when available through local teams, site photographs, digital tools, or 3D scans.

• Collaborate with workshop and erection teams to facilitate production planning, sequencing, constructability, and realistic project timelines.

• Keep organized drawing files, model records, project documentation, revision history, and technical notes in accordance with project and company standards.

• Contribute to internal technical reviews, detailing standards, workflow enhancement, and quality outcomes across the detailing function.

• Ensure ongoing adherence to company QHSE policies and procedures.

• Undertake other position-related responsibilities as they emerge.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Structural Steel Detailer, with a proven record of delivering detailing projects in New Zealand and/or Australia.

• Expert-level proficiency in Tekla Structures and a solid understanding of NZ/AU fabrication and erection practices.

• Comprehensive knowledge of NZ/AU construction codes and engineering standards, including AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 5131, and ISO 9606.

• Demonstrated ability to produce fabrication-ready shop drawings and 3D models for structural steel, stairs, balustrades, handrails, frames, and custom metalwork.

• Strong capability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and resolve intricate coordination challenges.

• Experience in reviewing the work of junior or intermediate detailers, offering feedback, and fostering technical development.

• Solid understanding of workshop requirements, erection sequencing, buildability, fabrication constraints, and site practicality.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage in meetings and collaborate with senior stakeholders.

• Proven problem-solving mindset, initiative, and keen attention to detail.

• Ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Dependable, quality-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of detailing outcomes in a remote team setting.
