Senior Structural Engineer – OpenSees, AI Training & Evaluation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design realistic training tasks for AI that are grounded in structural engineering principles and real-world design challenges.

• Craft clear problem statements related to engineering that encompass structural analysis, design, simulation, and adherence to code compliance.

• Develop reference solutions along with deterministic criteria for assessing AI-generated responses.

• Construct engineering tasks utilizing OpenSees and various structural engineering methodologies.

• Create evaluation scenarios that include topics such as pushover analysis, seismic design, finite element analysis (FEA), reinforced concrete design, steel connection detailing, and structural retrofitting.

• Review engineering solutions produced by AI for technical accuracy, engineering judgment, and compliance with relevant design codes.

• Provide structured feedback aimed at enhancing AI performance in the field of structural engineering.

• Operate independently in a fully remote and flexible work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline (a Master's or PhD is advantageous).

• Professional experience in structural analysis and design.

• Practical experience with OpenSees.

• Strong comprehension of structural design standards such as ACI 318, AISC 360, or Eurocode (EN 1992, EN 1993, EN 1998).

• Familiarity with structural engineering concepts including nonlinear modeling, response spectrum analysis, pushover analysis, or performance-based design.

• Capability to produce clear, detailed, and technically accurate engineering documentation.

• Excellent analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.

• Outstanding written communication skills in English.

• Ability to work autonomously and manage your own schedule effectively.
