Senior Structural Engineer – OpenSees, AI Training & Evaluation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Create realistic AI training tasks rooted in structural engineering principles and real-life design challenges.

• Formulate clear engineering problem statements that encompass structural analysis, design, simulation, and code adherence.

• Generate reference solutions and deterministic scoring criteria for assessing AI-generated outputs.

• Develop engineering tasks utilizing OpenSees and other structural engineering techniques.

• Design evaluation scenarios covering topics such as Pushover analysis, Seismic design, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Reinforced concrete design, Steel connection detailing, and Structural retrofit.

• Assess AI-generated engineering solutions for technical precision, engineering judgment, and adherence to relevant design codes.

• Offer structured feedback to enhance AI performance in the realm of structural engineering.

• Operate autonomously in a fully remote and flexible work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline (Master's or PhD is advantageous).

• Relevant professional experience in structural analysis and design.

• Practical experience with OpenSees.

• Solid understanding of structural design standards, including ACI 318, AISC 360, or Eurocode (EN 1992, EN 1993, EN 1998).

• Familiarity with structural engineering concepts such as nonlinear modeling, response spectrum analysis, pushover analysis, or performance-based design.

• Capability to produce clear, detailed, and technically precise engineering documentation.

• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.

• Exceptional written communication skills in English.

• Ability to work independently and effectively manage your own schedule.
