Senior Structural Engineer – OpenSees, AI Training & Evaluation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Design realistic AI training tasks rooted in structural engineering principles and authentic design challenges.

• Formulate precise engineering problem statements that encompass structural analysis, design, simulation, and adherence to codes.

• Create reference solutions along with deterministic scoring criteria for assessing AI-generated outputs.

• Construct engineering tasks utilizing OpenSees and various structural engineering methodologies.

• Develop evaluation scenarios covering topics such as: Pushover analysis, Seismic design, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Reinforced concrete design, Steel connection detailing, and Structural retrofit.

• Assess AI-generated engineering solutions for technical precision, engineering judgment, and compliance with relevant design codes.

• Offer structured feedback aimed at enhancing AI performance in the field of structural engineering.

• Operate independently within a fully remote and flexible work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline (Master's or PhD is advantageous).

• Professional background in structural analysis and structural design.

• Practical experience with OpenSees.

• Comprehensive understanding of structural design standards such as ACI 318, AISC 360, or Eurocode (EN 1992, EN 1993, EN 1998).

• Familiarity with structural engineering concepts including nonlinear modeling, response spectrum analysis, pushover analysis, or performance-based design.

• Capability to produce clear, detailed, and technically accurate engineering documentation.

• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.

• Exceptional written communication skills in English.

• Ability to work autonomously and manage your schedule effectively.
