This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Execute finite element analyses (FEA) for intricate dynamic structural challenges that encompass contact, nonlinear material behaviors, transient heat transfer, and fracture utilizing the explicit finite element software LS-DYNA.
• Oversee the design and analysis of vehicle structures.
• Spearhead test planning and data interpretation with the opportunity for onsite test assistance.
• Create digital twins of complex structural tests, including test responses, data analysis, and validation against simulations.
• Conduct engineering analyses across a range of structural projects.
• Lead proposals for new research and development initiatives with both government and industry partners.
• Facilitate face-to-face meetings and prepare technical as well as cost proposals.
• At least 10 years of experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing project teams.
• Proficient with Hypermesh FEA model preprocessors, CAD software such as Solidworks, and the LS-DYNA FEA solver.
• Familiarity with solid and/or liquid rocket propulsion.
• Experience in implicit structural dynamics.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux/Windows operating systems and programming languages.
• Capability to obtain a security clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship.
• Proven outstanding writing, presentation, and communication abilities.
• At least 5 years of experience in developing Digital Twins for aerospace applications (preferred).
• Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics and hypersonics (preferred).
• Experience in mechanical testing of materials and structures (preferred).
