This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery architectures for essential business applications and infrastructure.
• Engineer scalable, resilient, and secure backup solutions across physical, virtual, cloud, SaaS, and containerized environments.
• Develop standards for backup, recovery procedures, operational runbooks, and engineering documentation.
• Lead initiatives for backup platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization.
• Establish service levels for recovery, recovery objectives, and testing standards.
• Administer and engineer IBM Storage Protect, IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, Rubrik Security Cloud, Commvault, and cloud-native backup platforms.
• Conduct platform architecture, capacity planning, performance tuning, security hardening, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and escalation support.
• Design and implement strategies for cyber recovery and ransomware resilience.
• Assess immutable storage, air-gapped recovery vaults, and cyber recovery technologies.
• Participate in cyber recovery exercises and validation testing.
• Provide technical leadership for initiatives related to backup, storage, and recovery architecture.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose platform enhancements.
• Engage in enterprise architecture reviews and infrastructure design discussions.
• Define standards, patterns, and best practices for enterprise data protection services.
• Develop automation for provisioning, reporting, monitoring, and operational workflows using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Create dashboards and reporting functionalities to enhance operational visibility and compliance.
• Lead onboarding processes for business units, applications, and infrastructure platforms that are integrating into enterprise backup services.
• Identify protection gaps, risk exposures, and compliance issues.
• Support governance and exception management processes.
• Collaborate with IBM, Rubrik, Dell, Microsoft, and other technology vendors.
• Manage vendor escalations and support engagements.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, cloud, application, and operations teams.
• Travel occasionally to Humana offices for training or meetings.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Over 7 years of experience in enterprise backup, storage, or data protection.
• At least 5 years of experience with one or more enterprise backup platforms.
• Proficiency with IBM Storage Protect, IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, Commvault, Rubrik, or Dell PPDM.
• Experience in designing and supporting large-scale enterprise backup environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise storage technologies and infrastructure.
• Experience supporting VMware, Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation.
• Demonstrated experience in project management.
• Ability to provide high-speed DSL or cable modem internet for a home office.
• Minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
• Satellite and wireless internet services are not permitted.
• A dedicated workspace free from ongoing interruptions to safeguard member PHI / HIPAA information.
• Preferred: experience in healthcare or highly regulated environments.
• Preferred: experience supporting Microsoft Azure and GCP workloads.
• Preferred: knowledge of cyber recovery and ransomware resilience strategies.
• Preferred: knowledge of Kubernetes and container protection technologies.
• Preferred: experience with Splunk, monitoring platforms, and operational analytics.
• Preferred: familiarity with ServiceNow and ITIL practices.
