This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the comprehensive strategy, planning, execution, and delivery of extensive AI dataset development initiatives.
• Foster collaboration among ML engineers, GIS engineers, technical artists, product stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and external annotation partners to achieve intricate technical projects.
• Collaborate with engineering and research leaders to establish scalable data pipelines, annotation workflows, and operational best practices to enhance quality, efficiency, and model performance.
• Manage strategic vendor relationships, including onboarding, quality assurance, throughput planning, operational metrics, and continuous process enhancement.
• Set annotation standards, quality metrics, validation processes, and data governance practices to guarantee reproducible, high-quality datasets across the organization.
• Work alongside engineering teams to refine annotation platforms, automation, and data infrastructure, ensuring scalable, secure, and dependable dataset production.
• Identify cross-program risks, manage dependencies, establish operational metrics, and communicate program health and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Ensure that data collection, annotation, and governance practices comply with privacy, security, regulatory, and responsible AI standards.
• Promote documentation standards that guarantee data provenance, technical decisions, operational processes, and institutional knowledge are retained and easily transferable.
• Over 10 years of experience managing large-scale technical programs.
• Extensive experience in AI/ML, data infrastructure, or large-scale data annotation.
• Proven track record of successfully leading highly complex, cross-functional programs involving multiple engineering organizations and executive stakeholders.
• In-depth knowledge of geospatial data types (e.g., rasters, 3D point clouds, 2D vector data) and formats (COG, OSM, GeoJSON, Shapefile, LAZ) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows, supervised learning, dataset development, and data quality management.
• Strong systems thinking capability with the ability to link technical decisions to business outcomes.
• Excellent attention to detail and conscientiousness.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Comfort using the Unix command line and knowledge of Git for version control and a git server.
• Familiarity with database management or administration.
• A technical background (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering) is preferred.
• Experience with real-time 3D rendering is preferred.
