This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the Systems Engineering architect and technical lead for Dexcom’s connected ecosystem.
• Influence architectural and design choices across mobile applications, SDKs, backend services, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and partner integrations.
• Direct the definition, decomposition, and governance of system architectures, requirements, interfaces, and workflows for software-intensive medical device systems.
• Take ownership of resolving complex cross-functional initiatives related to alerts, notifications, data sharing, interoperability, and connected product functionality.
• Guide Systems Engineering efforts across multiple concurrent programs and commercial product launches.
• Create and uphold system requirements, interface specifications, operational concepts, architecture views, and traceability strategies.
• Spearhead system-level risk identification and mitigation in collaboration with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Human Factors, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering.
• Advocate for requirements engineering practices utilizing Jama Connect.
• Mentor Systems Engineers to enhance architecture, modeling, requirements, problem-solving, and risk-management skills.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, provide technical leadership, and guide informed decision-making and organizational direction.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 13+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of equivalent industry experience, or a PhD with 5+ years of experience.
• Profound knowledge in Systems Engineering.
• Proven experience in architecting and delivering large-scale, connected software-enabled products that include mobile apps, cloud services, APIs, backend platforms, and embedded devices.
• Proficiency in defining and managing requirements for software-intensive systems.
• Architectural expertise in mobile applications, SDKs, cloud platforms, web services, data platforms, microservices, security frameworks, and integrations.
• Demonstrated experience leading multiple high-visibility projects while offering technical leadership, work direction, and mentoring.
• Extensive application of ISO 14971 risk-management principles, including hazard analysis, software risk assessments, interface risk evaluations, and system-level trade studies.
• Capability to influence technical and executive stakeholders through data-driven recommendations.
• Preferably possess INCOSE CSEP/ESEP certification, MBSE experience, or equivalent systems architecture knowledge.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jama Connect, Jira, TestRail, GitHub, Ketryx, and product lifecycle management software.
• Experience in regulated mobile health, digital health, SaMD, or connected medical device ecosystems.
• Knowledge of Android/iOS architecture, SDK development, AWS/Azure/GCP, backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of BLE, partner integrations, third-party APIs, and connected device ecosystems.
• Experience with commercial launches, sustaining engineering, field investigations, and post-market design modifications.
• Background in cybersecurity for connected medical devices, cloud systems, and consumer mobile applications.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted Systems Engineering workflows.
