Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop robust, well-architected, and efficient software that addresses complex challenges.

• Rapidly test, review, and deploy code. We deploy more than 10 times daily and manage significant releases using feature flags instead of coordinated deployments.

• Investigate, learn, and share new strategies for tackling intricate engineering issues. Our team is highly collaborative, and we encourage each other to discover improved solutions daily.

• Create tools and establish practices for the engineering team. From GraphQL-to-Typescript compilers to fully automated deployments, we prioritize investing in our own productivity.

• Take full ownership of projects from start to finish. You may find yourself building a system to evaluate search engine performance, revising an integration with a telephony provider, or designing a UI component library on any given day.

• Assess and design solutions to business challenges. Companies that merely hand off solutions to engineers are underutilizing their potential. At AlphaSense, you'll be deeply engaged in decision-making, not just execution.

• Guide senior engineers, influence technical culture, and elevate expectations for system design and implementation.

• Participate in shaping the long-term technical strategy while remaining actively involved in critical implementations.

• Over 10 years of experience in software development, focusing on creating highly reliable, mission-critical applications.

• A solid grounding in computer science principles, including algorithmic complexity, asynchronicity, and distributed systems.

• Strong understanding of design and architectural concepts.

• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and software testing practices.

• Proven experience in delivering practical, high-quality solutions with a sense of urgency.

• A history of providing technical leadership across teams without formal personnel management responsibilities.

• Comfortable navigating uncertainty and fostering clarity in ambiguous situations.

• Eager and capable of working in an open, team-oriented environment.
