Senior Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with a functional department on a specific engagement, conducting discovery sessions to identify workflows and challenges before writing any code.

• Define, design, and develop comprehensive full-stack custom applications (beyond mere automations or scripts) utilizing contemporary frameworks, AI coding tools, and internal platform APIs, swiftly transitioning from prototype to production.

• Manage the entire delivery process, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and the training and handoff necessary for departmental adoption of the solutions you create.

• Engage directly in coding alongside AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to expedite build cycles, collaborating with stakeholders in near real-time rather than relying on extensive requirement documents.

• Clearly articulate trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality as requirements evolve, ensuring transparent communication of these trade-offs to stakeholders and leadership.

• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Data teams to ensure that every deployed application adheres to SentinelOne’s standards for data security, compliance, and long-term maintainability.

• Document recurring patterns, components, and best practices from each engagement into reusable assets for future departments and the wider engineering organization.

• Provide feedback from field experiences to platform, product, and data teams detailing successes, failures, and insights for the future development of internal tools.

• Assess and report success based on production adoption and tangible business impact, rather than focusing solely on lines of code delivered or tickets resolved.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 or more years of professional software engineering experience, showcasing a proven ability to independently design, build, and deploy full-stack applications (both frontend and backend).

• Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (such as Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or a similar language) and sufficient frontend capability to create functional internal tools without awaiting a dedicated design or frontend team.

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools (like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.) to enhance development speed, along with a solid understanding of APIs, webhooks, data structures, and integration patterns.

• A history of direct collaboration with non-technical stakeholders, including the ability to scope ambiguous requests, manage expectations, and deliver tangible results rather than just presentations.

• Comfort in working with considerable autonomy and adapting to changing priorities across departments and problem domains where the optimal solution is not immediately apparent.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical trade-offs to both a functional VP and fellow engineers with equal clarity.

• Prior experience in a forward-deployed solutions engineering, professional services, or startup generalist role where you managed a project from discovery to production is preferred.

• Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, or data governance requirements, considering the security-conscious environment in which you will be developing is preferred.
