Senior Staff Engineer – Agentic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of agent delivery across multiple Engines and Services, from initial discovery discussions to quantifiable time savings.

• Establish the architecture for retrieval, orchestration, MCP tools, identity, and evaluation involved in agentic operations.

• Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously by leading agents and ensuring their outputs meet production quality standards.

• Collaborate with Engines and Services to analyze processes and determine which elements should be automated, redesigned, or left unchanged.

• Transform ambiguous requirements into precise architectural frameworks and delivery strategies.

• Evaluate competing priorities and make trade-offs clear.

• Incorporate reliability, evaluation, access controls, recovery, and human approval into concurrent workstreams.

• Equip shipped systems to make time savings transparent.

• Standardize recurring business logic into reusable components.

• Assist teams in designing and operating their own agents through design assessments, shared methodologies, and effective handovers.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have directly collaborated with business stakeholders to determine development priorities, potentially in roles such as technical product lead, tech lead, or engineering manager, and you do not anticipate a detailed specification.

• You have developed and maintained production-level agentic systems that have significant implications, including multi-agent systems and MCP servers utilized by actual users for tangible tasks.

• You have created retrieval systems and have evaluated different methods against established requirements.

• You conduct evaluations systematically, using realistic labeled scenarios that consider failures and permission boundaries, and you can ascertain when an agent is production-ready.

• Strong judgment regarding reliability and security, covering permissions, human approval, task-state persistence, and safe recovery protocols.

• Experience managing several agents concurrently.

• Capable of reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and identifying potential system failures without daily coding.

• Proficient in spoken and written English.

• Experience with customer-facing agents in production for several months (preferred).

• Significant internal processes have been enhanced through the use of agents (preferred).

• Transitioned DevOps or CI/CD workflows onto agents (preferred).

• Advanced experience in retrieval methods, such as graph RAG or agentic RAG (preferred).
