This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.
• Design and develop secure, scalable, multi-tenant database architectures specifically for healthcare SaaS applications.
• Create data models and storage solutions for sensitive healthcare information, including PHI and PII/PPI.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR, and other pertinent regulations.
• Implement data encryption measures—both at rest and in transit—along with masking and access controls.
• Architect systems that guarantee high availability, disaster recovery, and auditability.
• Define and enforce policies for data governance, retention, and audit logging.
• Optimize database performance for extensive healthcare datasets and facilitate real-time access.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to fulfill regulatory obligations.
• Lead data migration and integration efforts with EHR/EMR systems and external healthcare platforms.
• Adhere to best practices for secure CI/CD pipelines involving database modifications.
• Monitor systems to ensure data integrity, detect breaches, and identify unusual access patterns.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise technology, architecture, and systems management.
• More than 7 years of experience in database architecture, preferably within SaaS environments.
• Extensive experience with data lake architectures, such as AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, or Google Cloud Storage.
• Demonstrated experience in designing or managing distributed data platforms, including Hadoop, Spark, or Databricks ecosystems.
• Practical experience managing sensitive data in regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, data privacy, and security frameworks.
• Proficiency in relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, and non-relational systems such as Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly healthcare-compliant services.
• Expertise in data encryption, key management, and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Solid understanding of scaling strategies and distributed systems.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
