Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL databases that support cloud-native applications and microservices.

• Oversee Azure Database for PostgreSQL (Flexible Server and Hyperscale/Citus), ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and disaster recovery processes.

• Monitor, diagnose, and enhance database performance for critical production environments.

• Spearhead database modernization efforts, facilitating migrations from on-premises and legacy systems to Azure.

• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams to promote automated deployments and best practices in infrastructure.

• Create and uphold strategies for backup, recovery, security, and compliance.

• Develop automation processes utilizing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Set up monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices for PostgreSQL systems.

• Offer technical guidance and mentor engineers in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and database best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience managing PostgreSQL databases in enterprise production settings.

• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, backup & recovery, security, and high availability.

• Practical experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL (Flexible Server and/or Hyperscale/Citus).

• Familiarity with supporting cloud-native applications operating in Azure.

• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across both database and infrastructure layers.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Bicep.

• Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Experience collaborating with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and SRE teams.

• Proven experience in supporting CI/CD and automated deployment methodologies.

• Familiarity with AI-driven tools to enhance PostgreSQL administration, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.
