This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Deliver expert technical guidance, analysis, and solution development for customer projects that involve advanced propulsion technologies.
• Assist in conducting feasibility studies, performance assessments, certification support, and optimization of propulsion architectures.
• Lead analyses of propulsion systems that encompass thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, structural, and control disciplines.
• Create and validate performance models.
• Execute trade studies on advanced tactical propulsion system concepts.
• Act as a voting member on design and testing engineering review boards.
• Mentor and coach engineers within the team.
• Define work scopes, deliverables, and schedules while managing daily execution to meet client milestones.
• Generate technical reports, presentations, and conduct design reviews.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive propulsion solutions.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for customer engineering teams.
• Facilitate workshops, webinars, and training sessions on propulsion best practices and emerging technologies.
• Translate client requirements into actionable engineering tasks and propose innovative concepts.
• Contribute to proposal writing, cost estimations, and technical scoping for new consulting projects.
• Identify service expansion opportunities and present them to senior leadership.
• Support internal research and development initiatives.
• A Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field with at least 20 years of hands-on propulsion engineering experience; or a Master's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 18 years of experience.
• Expertise in propulsion analysis software and tools.
• Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Excel, or comparable scripting tools for data analysis.
• Familiarity with propulsion system design standards such as ASME, SAE, NASA, and ICAO.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
• United States Secret Clearance is required to begin.
• U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining the clearance.
• Preferred: 25 years of experience in tactical solid rocket motor propulsion design and development.
• Preferred: Direct experience with next-generation propulsion technologies, including Highly Loaded and Solid Fuel Ram Jets.
• Preferred: Experience in providing consulting services within a matrixed, multi-client environment.
