This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
• Execute daily accounting functions and manage the month-end closing process.
• Grasp payroll procedures including the approval of timesheets and expenses, as well as the setup and distribution of payroll.
• Aid in the preparation and examination of financial statements and bank reconciliations.
• Contribute to the year-end closing tasks.
• Support budgeting efforts as needed.
• Record or verify client payments.
• Create journal entries for month-end closure, including expense allocations, monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and make necessary adjusting or reclassification journal entries.
• Oversee unearned revenue by maintaining schedules, collaborating with contracts personnel and project leaders to keep abreast of changing revenue recognition, ensuring that the general ledger is updated prior to any closure.
• Foster a collaborative team environment by mentoring and assisting fellow accounting team members as required.
• Help in meeting DCAA compliance objectives.
• Prepare or assess invoicing as needed.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for experience in government consulting firms.
• Familiarity with Unanet is essential; experience with ADP is advantageous.
• Strong computer proficiency, particularly in handling large datasets and utilizing Excel spreadsheets.
• Excellent organizational skills, capable of continually re-prioritizing tasks and fulfilling commitments.
• Robust problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a knack for developing solutions based on specific situations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
