Senior Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete month-end closure process, which includes revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and accruals in accordance with U.S. GAAP standards.

• Create detailed documentation for all balance sheet variances exceeding $50K, providing written explanations linked to operational factors.

• Conduct variance analysis throughout monthly, quarterly, and budget cycles to identify root causes for management review.

• Collaborate with FP&A to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts that accurately reflect accruals and working capital dynamics.

• Provide mentorship to Staff Accountants on intricate entries, reconciliation methods, and decisions regarding U.S. GAAP treatment.

• Recognize and implement process enhancements with documented ROI prior to deployment across the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP with practical experience in SaaS revenue recognition, including ASC 606 and deferred revenue.

• A proven history of leading month-end closing processes and independently preparing comprehensive financial statements.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling, Power Query, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and scenario analysis.

• Practical experience with contemporary ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

• Strong skills in variance analysis, with the ability to convey financial results in a clear business context for non-accountants.

• Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies and implement enhancements with measurable results.

• Experience in mentoring junior accountants and enhancing their skills in recurring accounting tasks.
