This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage Microsoft SQL Server databases in both Windows and Linux environments for NPIRS production and development systems.
• Oversee SQL Server health, performance, storage usage, and database accessibility across various platforms.
• Conduct regular server monitoring and daily operational health assessments.
• Create, schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server Agent jobs, automated database processes, alerts, Database Mail notifications, and scheduled operational workflows.
• Perform scheduled SQL Server maintenance tasks, including weekly server updates and maintenance windows.
• Diagnose SQL Server performance issues, database connectivity challenges, and production incidents.
• Ensure database security, permissions, access controls, and adherence to organizational standards.
• Assist in disaster recovery preparedness, high availability solutions, and infrastructure upgrade coordination.
• Manage Linux-based database systems, including shell scripting and system administration tasks.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain intricate SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and reusable database components.
• Create and optimize advanced SQL solutions utilizing Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 healthcare data sources.
• Develop cross-platform SQL solutions that integrate SQL Server reporting environments with DB2 databases.
• Convert complex healthcare reporting requirements and legacy report logic into verified SQL business rules, encompassing exception handling, reconciliation, and data-quality controls.
• Enhance SQL code for performance and scalability across multiple database platforms.
• Develop validation scripts and address database-related defects.
• Implement data models and database architectures following best practices.
• Design, develop, modify, validate, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
• Lead modernization initiatives by converting SAP Crystal Reports to SSRS while retaining functionality.
• Transform legacy Crystal Reports business logic into validated SSRS solutions while upholding business rules and report functionality.
• Interpret healthcare reporting requirements and translate them into verified SQL datasets, report parameters, reconciliation logic, exception processing, and data-quality controls.
• Develop and maintain standardized reporting templates.
• Conduct report validation, peer reviews, and maintain Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) documentation.
• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize SSIS packages that support enterprise reporting and healthcare data integration.
• Assist in automated processing, scheduled data loads, ETL workflows, and validation.
• Support data integration projects across multiple systems and platforms.
• Carry out database migrations and conversions between platforms with minimal downtime.
• Migrate databases and reports across different environments.
• Contribute to cloud database platform initiatives.
• Ensure data integrity throughout migration processes.
• Provide production support for NPIRS operational systems.
• Monitor production database jobs, reporting services, SQL Server Agent jobs, and automated workflows.
• Perform proactive morning operational monitoring and address infrastructure incidents.
• Assist in production deployments, server patching, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in SQL database development and administration.
• Advanced SQL programming skills with proven experience in optimizing complex queries.
• Strong experience in Linux administration, including shell scripting and system management.
• Proven experience in migrating databases and reports across different platforms.
• Demonstrated experience with Linux environments hosting database systems.
• A successful track record of database migration projects.
• Significant experience with both Crystal Reports and SSRS development.
• Experience with healthcare data is preferred.
• Familiarity with federal healthcare compliance requirements is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Administration (Windows and Linux).
• Experience with IBM DB2 and cross-platform SQL development.
• Advanced T-SQL programming skills.
• Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Experience with SQL Server Agent and Database Mail.
• Proficient in SAP Crystal Reports.
• Understanding of healthcare reporting methodologies and data models.
• Expertise in business-rule translation and validation.
• Skills in database performance tuning and optimization.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
• Familiarity with production support methodologies.
