This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Supports OP leadership in the creation, execution, oversight, and enhancement of the OP Specialty coding section.
• This encompasses: development of section policies and procedures, dissemination of policies and procedures to clinical areas, management of share point sites, and other tools that facilitate the administration and communication of specialty coding functions, job responsibilities, and productivity benchmarks.
• Aids the manager in fostering employee development.
• Assists the management team in the Fiscal Management of coding resources and processes.
• Collaborates with the management team on Quality and organizational improvement initiatives, including working with clinical departments to address coding and billing challenges.
• Acts as a subject matter expert in specialty coding knowledge.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or a related healthcare field.
• 2 Years REQUIRED of experience; or an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or a related healthcare field with 4 Years REQUIRED; or a High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6 Years in lieu of a degree, must possess acute care (hospital setting) OP surgical coding experience with progressive responsibility REQUIRED.
• 3 Years of coding experience in an acute care outpatient surgical setting; specialty coding experience in GI, wound care, hands, and spines is a plus.
• Demonstrated evidence of progression in coding responsibilities REQUIRED.
• 2 Years of experience performing CVIR coding REQUIRED.
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator Upon Hire REQUIRED, or RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire REQUIRED, or CCS - Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire REQUIRED, or COC - Certified Outpatient Coder Upon Hire REQUIRED, or CIRCC - Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder Upon Hire REQUIRED.
• Proficient in reviewing coding and procedural documentation of specialty coding records, including coding and chargemaster data.
• Capable of identifying and reconciling discrepancies in coding and charges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Able to provide constructive feedback to coders clearly and concisely, and translate coding rules and concepts into comprehensible presentations for providers and other healthcare clinicians.
• Recognized as a subject matter expert in CVIR coding and other specialty areas.
• Extensive understanding of CMS, State, and Joint Commission documentation requirements.
• Capable of meeting deadlines and efficiently adapting to changes in coding guidelines.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Skilled in data analysis and summarizing findings both verbally and in writing.
• Flexible, responsive, and adept at managing multiple priorities.
• Able to project a positive professional image.
• Manages sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
