Senior Software Maintenance Engineer – Openshift

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary point of contact and advisor for customer inquiries regarding the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform via our Customer Portal, phone, and remote access tools.

• Provide an outstanding customer experience by utilizing professional communication skills, leveraging existing knowledge, and performing in-depth troubleshooting to resolve a wide range of issues.

• Swiftly analyze issues to pinpoint problem areas and effectively convey corrective actions and solutions to customers in a professional and timely manner.

• Collaborate with fellow support engineers, internal teams, and external partners throughout the problem resolution process.

• Document diagnostic procedures and develop reusable solutions for future incidents.

• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team and prioritize customer satisfaction by addressing their concerns.

• Be prepared to perform weekend shift duties on a rotational basis as required.

• Engage in regional or global initiatives or projects as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; a preference for engineering or computer science.

• Over 3 years of experience as a support or development engineer for a Platform as a Service Provider or Hosting Service.

• More than 5 years of experience with Linux or Unix operating systems.

• Experience in working with hosted applications or large-scale application deployments.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, openvswitch, JBoss, Tomcat, Go, Angular.js (web frameworks), Python (web frameworks), .NET, and RESTful APIs.

• A solid understanding of Linux tools, focusing on curl, strace, wireshark, and git usage.

• Capable of communicating courteously and effectively with customers, third-party vendors, and Red Hat associates.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities alongside a passion for problem-solving and investigative work.

• Competent in multitasking, prioritizing, and working under pressure.

• Knowledge of support systems and tools is considered an advantage.

• Familiarity with technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, containers, and Ansible cloud management.

• Experience with upstream involvement in open-source projects (submitting patches for upstream inclusion) is a plus.

• Excellent reading and writing skills in English; fluency in the English language is preferred.

• Red Hat Certified Engineer is preferred.
