Senior Software Engineer – UDS Foundations Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with internal engineers and the open-source community to address feature requests and bug fixes.

• Clarify and resolve any ambiguities in product requirements.

• Integrate software products with current defense systems while maintaining interoperability and compliance with security protocols.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions and ensure technical quality throughout the engineering team.

• Create design specifications, user manuals, and maintenance documentation.

• Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to guide product improvements.

• Offer technical mentorship and raise engineering standards within the team.

• Shape product direction by understanding user requirements and system limitations.

• Engage in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation, which includes incident response, troubleshooting, and coordination efforts.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, end users, and the open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proficient in using Git and GitHub within collaborative settings.

• Experienced in building and maintaining software products.

• Strong proficiency in a modern programming language, with a preference for Golang and/or TypeScript.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code using OpenTofu or Terraform.

• Solid understanding of system design, APIs, databases, and cloud architecture, including AWS or Azure.

• Ability to analyze complex issues, propose practical solutions, and see them through to completion.

• Knowledge of core Kubernetes concepts, such as Controllers, Operators, and CRDs.

• Proven ability to work proactively, manage time effectively, and excel in a remote work environment.

• Experience in developing CLIs, Kubernetes Operators, or OpenTofu providers is a plus.

• Contributions to or collaboration with open source projects is a plus.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Willingness to take part in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation.

• Openness to travel 5-15% of the time.
