Senior Software Engineer – Trading, Liquidity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Develop and take ownership of Essential Trading Services

• Design, construct, launch, and manage scalable Java services that drive trading, pricing, execution, and liquidity

• Oversee critical backend services comprehensively, from architecture and implementation to production support and ongoing enhancement

• Create systems that maintain reliability under heavy loads, partial failures, and fluctuating market conditions

• Enhance and advance capabilities in order management, execution, pricing, market data, and liquidity management

• Develop and sustain integrations with exchanges, liquidity providers, custodians, payment processors, and other external systems

• Boost execution quality through improved pricing accuracy, narrower spreads, better fill rates, increased liquidity availability, and minimized slippage

• Design dependable order lifecycles that encompass validation, routing, execution, settlement, reconciliation, cancellations, retries, and recovery

• Ensure financial accuracy across balances, positions, fees, and settlements through precision, idempotency, consistency, and auditability

• Construct distributed systems that function correctly under concurrency, retries, duplicate events, and eventual consistency

• Persistently enhance system performance, resilience, observability, throughput, and operational readiness

• Analyze production incidents, conduct root cause investigations, and implement preventive measures

• Engage in architecture and technical design decisions within the Trading & Liquidity team

• Review code, mentor engineers, and elevate engineering standards across the team

• Collaborate closely with Product, Platform, QA, Security, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Operations to deliver dependable financial systems

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering

• Strong commercial background in building Java backend systems

• Demonstrated expertise with Spring Boot and the larger Spring ecosystem

• Experience managing production systems from design through to operation

• Experience crafting distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures

• Experience in trading, cryptocurrency, exchanges, capital markets, payments, or other transaction-intensive financial environments

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and enhance engineering practices

• Technical Proficiencies: Java, Spring Ecosystem, Databases, Distributed Systems, Cloud & DevOps, Security

• Knowledge of Trading & Liquidity: Order books and matching engines, Market, limit, and stop orders, Bid/ask pricing, spreads, liquidity, and slippage, Order routing and execution, Market data and pricing feeds, Settlement, reconciliation, balances, and positions, Decimal precision and financial calculations, Risk controls and abnormal market behavior
