
Senior Software Engineer – Python, Data Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of and enhance ClickHouse's Python connector and SDK ecosystem, elevating performance, reliability, and API design standards.
• Develop and uphold integrations with orchestration platforms (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and transformation tools (dbt) to meet enterprise-grade quality benchmarks.
• Lead the AI/LLM integration strategy by designing connectors and patterns that position ClickHouse as an ideal choice for RAG architectures, ML feature pipelines, and LLM-driven data applications.
• Actively engage with the open-source community by triaging issues, supporting contributors, advocating for users, and shaping the roadmap based on practical feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Cloud, and other engineering teams to ensure that integration efforts align with broader platform objectives.
• Provide a practitioner's viewpoint in roadmap decision-making, basing prioritization on authentic Data Engineer and Data Scientist workflows.
• Over 7 years of software development experience, including hands-on roles as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or ML Engineer.
• Extensive, proven expertise in designing, building, and maintaining production-grade Python connectors, SDKs, or integrations for at least one major platform (orchestration, BI, MLOps, or data transformation).
• Practical experience in applying AI/ML within production data-engineering environments, including embedding generation, vector search, feature pipelines, or LLM-driven tools that are deployed and operational in production.
• Strong familiarity with the Python data ecosystem, including Pandas, NumPy, Pydantic, and other related libraries.
• Solid understanding of database fundamentals, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and knowledge of OLAP/analytical databases.
• Proficient experience with concurrent Python programming, including threading, multiprocessing, and asynchronous patterns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across engineering disciplines and engaging with open-source communities.
