Senior Software Engineer, Privacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Integrate privacy-enhancing features, anti-tracking mechanisms, and threat intelligence safeguards into the Firefox web browser to reduce user tracking and combat phishing threats.

• Implement architectural enhancements within Gecko, the browser engine that powers Firefox.

• Develop efficient, low-latency, and maintainable code using C++, JavaScript, and Rust.

• Collaborate effectively as part of a globally distributed team, primarily across Europe and the US-East, in an asynchronous work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 4 years of programming experience in C++ and Rust, with a solid understanding of memory safety, multi-threaded system architecture, or raw data stream manipulation.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly acclimate, deliver, and enhance complex software projects.

• Proven experience in independently defining and executing complex features within strict release timelines.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to validate your progress and decisions while articulating them clearly.

• Bonus: Familiarity with the browser ecosystem (Gecko, Chromium, WebKit) or web engine runtime abstractions.

• Bonus: Experience or strong interest in designing or utilizing ML pipelines to enhance internal developer workflows.

• Bonus: In-depth knowledge of web architecture, the privacy/security framework of the web, and client-side data structures.

• Bonus: Understanding of fundamental statistical modeling concepts.
