Senior Software Engineer, Privacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Integrate privacy-enhancing features, anti-tracking mechanisms, and threat intelligence safeguards into the Firefox web browser to reduce user tracking and phishing risks.

• Introduce architectural enhancements to Gecko, the core browser engine of Firefox.

• Develop efficient, low-latency, and sustainable code using C++, JavaScript, and Rust.

• Collaborate as part of a geographically dispersed team, primarily across Europe and US-East, in an asynchronous work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 4 years of programming experience in C++ and Rust, with a solid foundation in memory safety, multi-threaded system architecture, or raw data stream handling.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly onboard, deliver, and enhance complex software projects effectively.

• Proven success in independently defining and executing complex features within tight deadlines.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate progress and decisions.

• Bonus Points: Previous contributions to the Mozilla mission and its codebase.

• Bonus Points: Experience working in the browser domain (Gecko, Chromium, WebKit) or with web engine runtime abstractions.

• Bonus Points: Experience or strong interest in designing or utilizing ML pipelines to automate developer workflows.

• Bonus Points: In-depth understanding of web architecture, the privacy/security model of the web, and client-side data structures.
