Senior Software Engineer, Privacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Integrate privacy-enhancing features, anti-tracking mechanisms, and threat intelligence safeguards into the Firefox web browser to reduce user tracking and combat phishing attacks.

• Execute architectural enhancements within Gecko, the browser engine that powers Firefox.

• Develop efficient, low-latency, and maintainable code using C++, JavaScript, and Rust.

• Collaborate as part of a geographically diverse team in an asynchronous work environment, primarily located in Europe and the US-East.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum of 4 years of programming experience in C++ and Rust, with a solid foundation in memory safety, multi-threaded system architecture, or raw data stream handling.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly onboard, deliver, and enhance complex software projects.

• Proven history of independently defining and executing complex features within strict release timelines.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, allowing for clear validation of progress and decisions.

• Bonus Points: Experience in the browser domain (Gecko, Chromium, WebKit) or web engine runtime abstractions.

• Bonus Points: Experience or strong interest in designing or utilizing ML pipelines to automate internal developer workflows.

• Bonus Points: In-depth understanding of web architecture, the privacy/security model of the web, and client-side data structures.

• Bonus Points: Familiarity with basic statistical modeling.
