Senior Software Engineer – Privacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage Alan's privacy platform along with the GDPR Orchestrator.

• Create essential platform engines and safety features such as preview/dry-run capabilities and audit trails.

• Ensure operational stability through deployments, on-call support, observability, alerting, and incident management.

• Design dependable platform contracts for various product areas and promote their adoption.

• Produce documentation, templates, and self-service tools for over 15 areas.

• Mentor product teams through collaborative sessions to empower them in managing their own data regulations.

• Collaborate with legal, security, data, and data-producing departments on privacy needs.

• Identify cross-area data dependencies and address design compromises.

• Enhance platform design and features as Alan's data, products, and geographical reach expand.

• Broaden platform integration across various data stores and third-party services.

• Develop and deploy production code mainly using Python and TypeScript.

• Work alongside engineers and cross-functional teams in a dynamic, ownership-driven setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior-level expertise, generally 8+ years, in backend or platform software engineering, or a comparable field.

• Extensive production ownership experience, encompassing API and contract design, data modeling, and managing deployed solutions.

• Proven background in developing and maintaining platforms, libraries, or services utilized by fellow engineers.

• Capability to collaborate across multiple teams and influence legal, security, data, and product groups.

• Practical mindset for delivering secure solutions and iterating on them over time.

• Strong advantage: previous experience in privacy, GDPR, or data governance.

• Strong advantage: familiarity with an enabling or platform-team operating model.

• Proficient hands-on coding experience with Python and TypeScript.

• Experience in shipping and managing production software, including rollouts, alerting, on-call, and incident response.

• Ability to draft framing documents, outline dependencies, and coordinate team alignment on design decisions.

• Proficient in English.

• French language skills are not mandatory.

• Must possess legal eligibility to work in France, Belgium, or Spain.

• Must be located in, or willing to relocate to, France, Spain, or Belgium.

• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer must be indicated in the application form.
