This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create, develop, test, and manage distributed backend services and APIs that facilitate high-volume customer interactions.
• Assume complete ownership of platform initiatives, from defining ambiguous challenges and formulating technical strategies to execution, deployment, and production assistance.
• Enhance the reliability, scalability, latency, and cost-effectiveness of shared platform systems that benefit various teams across the organization.
• Collaborate closely with Product, SRE, and fellow engineering teams to implement platform enhancements while ensuring live traffic remains stable.
• Engage in on-call duties, incident management, troubleshooting, and the ongoing enhancement of alerting, runbooks, deployment quality, and capacity planning.
• Elevate engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, collaborative work, thorough documentation, and mentorship for team members.
• 5-7+ years of experience in building backend services and APIs in a production environment, or equivalent practical expertise.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and/or Go.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, concurrency, and cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP utilizing Kubernetes and Docker.
• Demonstrated production ownership, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and participation in on-call duties for high-scale services.
• Significant experience with data and messaging technologies such as PostgreSQL or Aurora, Redis, and RabbitMQ, along with the capacity to analyze reliability, performance, and scalability trade-offs.
• Nice-to-haves:
• Experience with Redshift, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, or IAM.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform.
• Strong observability practices across metrics, logs, and traces.
• Experience in scaling or migrating databases, including read replicas, cluster mode, or engine migrations.
