Senior Software Engineer, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Make informed, data-driven decisions based on experience regarding both the current and future iterations of the production platform, and ensure the delivery of results.

• Take ownership of and develop testing, build, and deployment processes within a high-scale PaaS environment.

• Collaborate with various teams across the organization on the design of production systems, as well as establishing standards, technology selections, and product integrations.

• Ensure that changes made to production systems are predictable, safe, and reliable.

• Contribute to the development of collaborative practices within the Platform Engineering team.

• Expand the company’s Platform/Reliability practice within a small but expanding team.

• Report directly to the VP of Reliability.

• Engage in decision-making regarding priorities and execution.

• Participate in incident management and establish sensible platform practices.

• Develop and maintain thorough internal documentation for systems and processes.

• Be part of periodic on-call rotations for services you own.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the design and implementation of Non-Abstract Systems.

• High proficiency in Python and Golang.

• Significant experience with Kubernetes (CKA or equivalent certification or higher).

• Familiarity with observability principles and technologies, including SLI/SLO definition and tracking.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience collaborating with a globally distributed team in delivery contexts.

• A strong passion for reliability and operational excellence.

• Capability to accurately estimate the scope of work and coordinate with stakeholders to manage risks.

• Proficient in software development best practices, such as code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.

• A proactive mindset for identifying and addressing issues, emphasizing ownership and accountability.

• Experience with SaaS/PaaS products across various cloud providers is a plus.

• Familiarity with tools such as CircleCI, Chronosphere (Prometheus), Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, and GitHub Actions is advantageous.

• Experience with AWS, GCP, and particularly Azure is a plus.

• Previous involvement in an on-call rotation is a benefit.

• Familiarity with Apache Airflow is an added advantage.
