Senior Software Engineer, Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Become a part of the Observability Team at NetBox Labs.

• Engage in Network Discovery & Reconciliation, Network Observability & Monitoring, as well as Agents & Fleet Management.

• Develop both closed- and open-source software for initiatives such as Orb, Diode, and pktvisor.

• Collaborate with product owners to transform concepts into reality and provide an exceptional user experience.

• Work alongside the NetBox team to develop observability tools integrated within NetBox.

• Partner with the platform team to ensure smooth integration with NetBox Cloud and Enterprise.

• Collaborate with community members who utilize and contribute to the projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience.

• Extensive knowledge of idiomatic Go programming.

• Familiarity with protobuf APIs, including gRPC and Connect RPC.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL, including handling migrations.

• Experience with Redis and RabbitMQ.

• Knowledge of multi-tenant services, OAuth2/OIDC, and event-driven architectures.

• Understanding of at-least-once delivery and idempotent consumers.

• In-depth knowledge of observability and instrumentation, particularly with OpenTelemetry.

• Strong grasp of networking concepts: devices, configuration, protocols, and layers.

• Ability to utilize coding agents while ensuring accountability for accuracy, security, and testing.

• Excellent communication skills, including the capability to draft technical specifications with diagrams.

• Preferred: At least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced startup setting.

• Preferred: Familiarity with MQTT or other device/IoT protocols, or gNMI.

• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes in a production environment.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Django, NetBox, or NetBox plugins.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Python for testing and tooling.
