This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Create and implement software modules using C/C++ for high-performance networking applications.
• Integrate with modules built in Python.
• Engage with L2–L7 networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Collaborate with architecture and quality assurance teams to define and deliver robust software components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues across application, transport, and network layers.
• Analyze crash reports and debug problems alongside the team.
• Set up and troubleshoot virtual networking in virtual machine environments, including bridges, TAP/TUN interfaces, VLANs, and virtual switches such as OVS.
• Deploy and validate networking software within VMs or virtualized testing environments, including KVM, VMware, VirtualBox, or cloud VMs.
• Work with DevOps and QA teams to ensure smooth deployment, configuration, and testing processes.
• Take part in design and code reviews while promoting maintainable, high-quality coding standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design discussions and documentation.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of practical software development experience in C/C++ and Python.
• Strong grasp of networking concepts and protocols, including IPv4/IPv6, ARP, VLAN, TCP/IP stack, routing, switching, or network virtualization.
• Experience with Linux-based systems, including system programming, socket programming, and multithreading.
• Practical experience with packet capture and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump).
• Familiarity with integrating software with network management systems (NMS), SNMP, or REST APIs.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities in distributed systems.
• Good understanding of software design patterns and optimization techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Demonstrated success in delivering production-quality software in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with DPDK/VPP, SDN/NFV, or network appliances is a considerable advantage.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes is preferred.
• Experience with VPP (Vector Packet Processing) or DPDK-based applications.
• Proven experience with Linux/Unix systems, socket programming, and multithreaded applications.
• Hands-on experience in setting up and managing virtual machines and networks, including KVM, libvirt, VMware, or VirtualBox.
• Familiarity with configuring bridges, vSwitches, TAP/TUN interfaces, and NAT or host-only networking.
• Exposure to OpenConfig, NETCONF/YANG, gRPC, or telemetry systems.
