Senior Software Engineer, Native Editor Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Collaborate on a daily basis with a team of experienced engineers who possess extensive knowledge in platform development.

• Create cross-platform API abstractions for Windows, macOS, and Linux, overseeing the process from design to delivery, with an emphasis on native code.

• Ensure the Unity Editor remains current on target operating systems by integrating support for new OS features and aligning with existing OS design standards.

• Enhance and maintain the current codebase to accommodate existing users and partners.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and international partner teams to strategize and deliver new authoring experiences for the Unity Editor.

• Establish the native foundation for the Unity Editor application across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated modern C++ development expertise.

• Familiarity with Win32, Cocoa (Objective-C), or GTK.

• Proven capability to cultivate and sustain cross-team collaborations with global teams.

• Experience with native debugging to identify and resolve challenging platform issues.

• Adequate proficiency in English for effective verbal and written communication.

• Optional: Experience in C# development.

• Optional: Background in postmortem debugging (Windows dump files, macOS/Linux core dumps).

• Optional: Experience in refactoring legacy codebases.

• Optional: Knowledge of working with and creating Docker container images.

• Optional: Familiarity with utilizing AI tools alongside your skill set.
