Senior Software Engineer – Messaging

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Address challenges related to large-scale streaming infrastructure and distributed messaging systems.

• Collaborate with the team and key users like ML, AI, and Search to develop scalable technical solutions.

• Ensure high availability and reliability across Reddit’s suite of products.

• Contribute to the long-term technical strategy of the team and organization.

• Enhance and manage messaging infrastructure that supports asynchronous communication for services catering to hundreds of millions of users.

• Oversee both managed and self-hosted infrastructure that facilitates produce and consume requests.

• Create tools and automation for efficient infrastructure operation.

• Implement features, optimize performance, and resolve issues in distributed messaging systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in building software at internet scale, ideally with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.

• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages: Golang, Python, C++, or Java.

• Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Strimzi is an advantage.

• Practical experience in implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes for distributed messaging systems.

• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineering, data science, machine learning, and product stakeholders.
