Senior Software Engineer, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Design and evaluate a highly scalable, geo-distributed, and high-performance database solution.

• Spearhead the development of the database solution.

• Supervise a team of Software Engineers involved in the project.

• Guarantee the scalability, performance, and reliability of the database.

• Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to outline, devise, and launch new features.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate problems in distributed environments.

• Analyze, debug, and enhance performance utilizing JFR, JMC, async-profiler, VisualVM, and various other tools.

• Maintain clean and reviewable code using Git.

• Design and refine data structures for data-intensive applications.

• Implement data storage solutions to disk and manage data transfer over networks, including handling failures and recovery.

• Develop and integrate algorithms to ensure cluster high availability.

• Investigate inconsistencies in data consistency algorithms through multi-node clusters and low-level data analysis.

• Collaborate internationally and contribute to open-source projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Java programming.

• In-depth understanding of concurrency in Java and the Java Memory Model, as well as concurrency models in other programming environments.

• Strong knowledge of Java SE, including IO and JVM internals.

• Experience with SQL databases.

• Proficient in troubleshooting Java applications and/or databases.

• Extensive SQL expertise, including familiarity with MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Ignite, or GridGain.

• Understanding of distributed systems, including Raft, MVCC, and ACID principles.

• Familiarity with MVCC and P2PL, as well as the distinctions between Snapshot Isolation and REPEATABLE READ.

• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and debugging abilities.

• Proven experience working effectively in fast-paced, collaborative settings.

• Experience with distributed software solutions, both on-premise and cloud-based.
