Senior Software Engineer, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Georgia.

📋 Description

• Design and test a highly scalable, geo-distributed, and high-performance database solution.

• Ensure the database system's scalability, performance, and reliability.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate issues in distributed systems.

• Profile, debug, and enhance performance utilizing tools such as JFR, JMC, async-profiler, VisualVM, and others.

• Maintain clean and reviewable code using Git.

• Develop and optimize data structures for scenarios with high data intensity.

• Implement data storage to disk and manage data transmission over networks, including handling failures and recovery.

• Integrate high-availability algorithms for the cluster.

• Investigate inconsistencies in data consistency algorithms through multi-node clusters and low-level byte-data debugging.

• Oversee a team of Software Engineers on the project.

• Collaborate on a global scale and contribute to open source initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in Java programming.

• Extensive knowledge of concurrency in Java and the Java Memory Model, or concurrency models in other programming languages.

• Strong understanding of Java SE, including IO and JVM internals.

• Proficient in SQL databases.

• Experience in troubleshooting Java applications and/or databases.

• In-depth knowledge of SQL, including MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Ignite, or GridGain.

• Familiarity with concepts of distributed systems, including Raft, MVCC, and ACID.

• Understanding of MVCC and P2PL along with the difference between Snapshot Isolation and REPEATABLE READ.

• Strong leadership, analytical, and debugging abilities.

• Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative settings.

• Must be capable of working without employer-sponsored work visa or relocation assistance.
