Senior Software Engineer II, Network Products

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Become a part of DigitalOcean's Network Products team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.

• Design, implement, test, and enhance scalable services and tools to tackle performance and monitoring challenges.

• Develop software and APIs for both control plane and data plane.

• Collaborate with Networking and cross-company teams to create products and services tailored for developers.

• Support current products and devise solutions to alleviate customer pain points.

• Enhance tooling and processes for delivering robust, mission-critical components of the ecosystem.

• Establish best practices in development and architecture.

• Take ownership of product offerings from start to finish.

• Mentor engineers within the Networking team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a software architect and lead developer in building scalable, real-time, and distributed systems.

• Significant proficiency with the Go programming language and unit testing.

• In-depth knowledge of the Networking stack.

• Experience in leading collaborative efforts across multiple teams to establish API contracts.

• Familiarity with cloud development, containerization, and virtualization.

• Proficient in Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) practices.

• Some experience with data plane programming, including eBPF and XDP.

• Proven track record of implementing major stability, performance, and scalability enhancements in business-critical systems.

• Demonstrated ability to automate the delivery of high-quality, well-tested, production-ready software.

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.

• Bonus: Experience with gRPC for building robust distributed and high-demand systems.

• Bonus: Experience in developing Firewall, DNS, and Network Monitoring systems.

• Bonus: Working familiarity with Temporal and Kafka.
