This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the design and execution of the audio engine that powers Splice’s DAW plugins.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Product Design teams to enhance the user experience.
• Represent the team in technical and business discussions.
• Propose innovative solutions to enhance maintenance, efficiency, or feature depth, secure organizational buy-in, and implement those proposals.
• Step outside your comfort zone to make modifications in both UI and back-end code.
• Quickly iterate and experiment with new ideas for creative workflows.
• Engage in code reviews to influence our code practices and the dialogue surrounding our work.
• Act as the primary expert in a specific area of the codebase, sharing your knowledge proactively with the broader engineering team.
• Facilitate alignment among teams regarding goals and technical trade-offs; author RFCs to propose new feature implementations or enhancements to existing ones.
• Oversee multiple simultaneous projects that yield measurable results aligned with organizational goals, collaborating cross-functionally to synchronize stakeholders.
• Mentor fellow engineers, consistently provide constructive feedback, and elevate the standards in code reviews regarding our development practices.
• Over 10 years of experience in software development, focusing on building and maintaining production-quality audio software.
• Proven track record of leading complex, ambiguous technical initiatives from problem identification to delivery.
• In-depth knowledge as an expert audio engineer, including signal processing, real-time systems development, multithreading, and AI/model solutions.
• Proficient in software performance optimization.
• Experience in developing software using JUCE or other plugin frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability in writing production-quality code in C++ and TypeScript; expert-level proficiency in C++.
• Strong architectural skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong agentic coding skills, including harness engineering.
• A proactive approach with a bias towards action and experimentation.
• Driven by a commitment to quality.
• Capable of translating ambiguous insights into actionable plans and rallying others around them.
• Comfortable asking questions.
• Preference for working across various technical stacks.
• Enthusiastic about data and its role in making technical decisions.
