Senior Software Engineer I – Agent Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop core infrastructure for multi-agent orchestration, encompassing task planning, coordination, execution, and recovery.

• Establish and execute platform primitives and abstractions that empower internal teams to create and deploy new agents.

• Create dependable backend services and APIs for agent discovery, state management, scheduling, and observability.

• Design systems that support scalability, resilience, and long-running workflows across multiple concurrent agents.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams developing agents to enhance APIs, tooling, and operational feedback loops.

• Lead technical decisions in a high-ambiguity, early-stage environment where requirements change rapidly.

• Take ownership of systems from start to finish: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operation.

• Advocate for, exemplify, and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles as we expand globally and open new offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in Software Engineering.

• Strong foundation in software engineering principles with a background in building production systems.

• Senior-level expertise in high-scale backend or distributed systems.

• Proficient in Python programming.

• Excellent system design abilities and a focus on production reliability.

• Comfortable working across the technology stack as needed.

• Capable of thriving in dynamic, ambiguous environments.
